Department of Jewish Programs 

The Department of Jewish Programs is your one-stop for Jewish experience.  Acting as the programming arm of the United Jewish Council, DJP provides Jewish programs, events, and opportunities for Jewish youth, adults, seniors and families. From the PJ Library, to Kids Klub for 4th and 5th graders to senior adults, DJP is the place to meet, mix and mingle with all your Jewish friends in  an environments that is consistent with Jewish values.

Programs include: 

YLD is the nexus of Toledo’s vibrant community of Jews in their 20s, 30s and early 40s. YLD offers an exclusive way to get involved and get connected including events, meaningful volunteer service opportunities, stimulating educational programs and fulfilling leadership positions.
The Department of Jewish Programs will be collaborating in extending and growing our offerings for “JAM” – Jewish Adults in the Middle.
The Young Men’s Network and The Girlfriend Connection are non-fundraising outreach programs for young men and women in the community between the ages of 25 and 45ish! Programs range from card nights, dinners together and educational growth.
Senior Adult programming is funded through the Jewish Senior Services Supporting Organization. They offer monthly programs, speakers, cultural, trips and so much more.
Spanning 39 regions and 15,000 members, BBYO, Inc. is a worldwide, trans-denominational, youth-led organization that provides opportunities for Jewish youth to develop their leadership potential and a positive Jewish identity. BBYO is for those in 9th – 12th grade. Brown Smullin Neufeld #70 for guys, B’not Sholom #407 for ladies.
Club 678 is for Jewish Youth in 6th through 8th grade. This youth group is more than just having fun with your friends, it is also learning about tikkun olam, tzedakah and your community. All of our events will have a link to a Jewish value or action. The youth are encouraged to ask questions and offer solutions and ideas.
Kids Klub is for Jewish Youth in 4th and 5th grade. This youth group is more than just having fun with your friends, it is also learning about tikkum olan, tzedakah and your community. The Jewish Experience Fund provides stipends of up to $1000 for each Jewish child who resides within the area served by the United Jewish Council of Greater Toledo. Stipends may be used to supplement a qualifying Israel travel program and other qualifying programs as defined by the fund. • The entire $1000 may be used to supplement a qualifying Israel travel program. • Increments of $1000 not exceeding $250 per year can be used for other purposes as defined as qualifying programs. The PJ Library, supported by the Gary and Andrea Delman Family Foundation, is a wonderful free program that will nourish a Jewish life from the start. The PJ Library seeks to engage Jewish families with young children. Each participating child will receive a high quality Jewish children’s book or CD every month, through age 7.
HFLJ is a series of seasonal events, presented by the Department of Jewish Programs, that give families the opportunity to come together in a non-soliciting environment. Events include the Summer Fun Carnival, Hanukkah Palooza, and others as created.
ArtsFest is designed to inspire Jewish teens through a dynamic combination of workshop, performance, exhibition, competition, community service, social activities and fun to develop their individuality through the medium of artistic expression while strengthening their bonds to their Jewish heritage, community, and Israel. Teens entering grades 8-12 (minimum age of 13) are eligible to participate.
Funded by Sylvia Thal, Toledo Link to College (TLC) provides care packages to college students who are away at school. The sisterhoods from the 3 congregations have committee members that help run this program. Packages go out approximately 3 times a year. A new program designed to reach out to 2nd and 3rd grade Jewish Youth. This program exposes the children to social environments, arts & crafts, education, and most importantly connecting with other Jewish kids.
Suzanne & Allan Cohn B’nai Tzedek Teen Philanthropy program of the Toledo Jewish Community Foundation offers teens ages 12 and up the unique opportunity to participate in philanthropy that focuses on Tikkun Olam and Tzedakah while still being able to have fun and learn about issues that face the world and our own community.

UT Hillel is a student organization for all Jewish students who attend the University of Toledo, as well as students at surrounding Colleges/Universities (Owens Community College, Lourdes College, others in Northwest Ohio). The organization’s purpose is to provide social and educational opportunities of a Jewish nature to students.

The “In a Box” Program offers families the opportunity to explore and learn about different Jewish Holidays and events through hands on exploration and explanation. At each “In a Box” program the participants either create or are given different tools to use for their families celebration. “In a Box” programs have included: Shabbat, Sukkot, Tu B’Shevat and Passover.
Hanukkah Palooza is the Department of Jewish Programs community-wide celebration of Hanukkah. Children of all ages are invited. This event includes headliner entertainment, latkes, sufganiyot, and so much more.
The Department of Jewish Programs Book Fair spans several days and includes presentations by prominent authors and a book store, catering books specifically for the Jewish community. Come join the Greater Toledo Jewish community celebrate Israel's anniversary. The Department of Jewish Programs marks the holiday with fun and educational, hands-on activities for children, and meaningful presentations and speakers for all ages. The Department of Jewish Programs - Helping Families Live Jewishly series kicks up the summer heat for this annual summer carnival. Each year families get together for an afternoon of games, crafts, balloons, inflatables and a lot of fun! Contact the DJP for more information.
Are you a young adult in your 20s or 30s? Then check out Toledo’s Young Adult Division. Grads, professionals, couples, singles, and families can get together to make new friends, reconnect with old friends, network with other professionals, and become involved in everything that the Toledo Jewish Community has to offer.
