Iris Kraemer Named as Incoming Chair of National Women’s Philanthropy

Jewish Federations of North America are thrilled to welcome Iris Kraemer as the new Chair of National Women's Philanthropy. Iris will begin her two-year term in June.

“I’m beyond honored to lead this incredible group of women visionaries who are effecting impact through their collective philanthropy and leadership in their Jewish communities,” Kraemer said. “I was taught from a young age of the values of responsibility and the duty to give to those in need. I look forward to following in the footsteps of the great women leaders who came before me in order to address the urgent needs our system faces, to deliver critical services to Jews in distress and to ensure that our communities can flourish.”

Kraemer previously served as a board member and campaign chair of Jewish Federation & Foundation of Northeast Florida. She has been a member of National Women’s Philanthropy Board for the past four years. She also sits on the board of trustees of Jewish Federations of North America and is a Jewish Agency for Israel North America (JAFINA) Advisory Board Member.

“Iris’ leadership experience on the local and national levels, dedication to community and commitment to tzedakah exemplify the values of Jewish Federations that we cherish,” said Jewish Federations of North America VP of Lay Leadership Development Shayna Kreisler. “As women are becoming increasingly involved in philanthropic decision-making, Jewish Federations continue to offer more and more unique opportunities for women to make an imprint through their giving and to enrich the lives of Jews in need in North America, Israel and around the globe. We are deeply grateful to Carolyn Gitlin for her dedication and ‘heart’ and for the meaningful accomplishments she has brought to fruition as Chair of National Women’s Philanthropy, and are certain that Iris will bring forth her talents to continue to inspire our lay leaders and grow our campaign.”

National Women’s Philanthropy is the fastest growing campaign of Jewish Federations, and engages Jewish women in the fulfilling work of making the world a better place. Women’s philanthropy represents over 200 million in annual giving across the Federation system and over 18,000 Lions of Judah are contributing gifts of $5,000 and above. In every Jewish community, Federations are building and supporting Jewish life for today and for generations to come.
