This coming Sunday, over 1,000 philanthropists will gather in Arizona for the kickoff of Jewish Federations of North America’s Lions of Judah conference, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the signature women’s philanthropic movement of the Jewish community. To date, Lions of Judah have collectively raised more than one billion dollars to aid vulnerable Jews around the globe, and today over 18,000 “Lions” are making high-impact gifts through their philanthropy.
The conference will feature sessions and dialogue around urgent issues the Jewish community is facing and opportunities to effect impact through philanthropic giving. Guests will hear from a variety of thought-leaders, activists and industry leaders, including award-winning journalist Katie Couric, Rep. Kathy Manning, Amb. Linda Thomas-Greenfield, Academy Award Winner Marlee Matlin and more.
“This year’s conference is an opportunity to celebrate this unbelievable cadre of women leaders who are touching countless lives and strengthening Jewish communities around the globe through their collective giving,” said Chair of National Women’s Philanthropy of The Jewish Federations of North America Carolyn Gitlin. “As the influence of women in charitable giving continues to grow, I have no doubt that our ‘Lions’ will continue to make transformational impact on our Jewish world.”
“Women’s philanthropy is the fastest growing campaign in Jewish Federations,” added Chair of the Board of Jewish Federations of North America Julie Platt. “Jewish Federations are dedicated to supporting and strengthening the role of women in their charitable decision-making, as they continue to inspire the next generation of philanthropic leadership.”
The conference will also honor 58 extraordinary women from 58 Federation communities who are the 2022 recipients of the Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award, recognizing female leaders who embody the spirit and vision of Lion of Judah through a commitment to tzedakah, tikkun olam and community service.
