A memorial site to lone soldier Max Steinberg, killed one year ago during Operation Protective Edge, was dedicated last week by Federation partner Taglit-Birthright Israel.

Built at the site of an ancient synagogue in the Galilee, the memorial features information about Steinberg, a California native who made aliyah and enlisted in the IDF after a 2012 Birthright trip, and space for trip goers to celebrate Jewish milestones.
