This year, on Tuesday, December 2, Toledo Hillel is proud to be part of a national movement that hopes to change the calendar and make history. We are celebrating a new day dedicated to giving. Non-profits are joining together to create #GivingTuesday, a call-to-action dedicated to celebrating philanthropy and encouraging more, better and smarter giving during the holiday season.

“#GivingTuesday is a counter-narrative to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, because it reminds us that the spirit of the holiday giving season should be about community and not just consumerism,” said Kathy Calvin, CEO of the UN Foundation. “The most meaningful gift we can give our children, loved ones, friends and neighbors is the commitment to work together to help build a better world.”

Toledo Hillel has joined #GivingTuesday to honor the generosity of the Toledo community, our parents and alumni. Thanks to them, we have become the place to be for Jewish students at The University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University, teaching our students to take ownership of Hillel as the center of their Jewish community on campus.
