Throwing a party or special event? Have your guests join in on the mitzvah with our Mitzvah Bin

Borrow the Mitzvah Bin to host a donation drive supporting Jewish Family Service or an organization of your choice. The Mitzvah Bin is delivered to and picked up from your event for FREE to make organizing a donation drive easier than ever. We provide invitation inserts about the Mitzvah Bin and your selected charity for you to distribute. Simply add the inserts in your invitations and your guests will know what to bring to donate in your honor.

Donation themes

We have plenty of fun Mitzvah Bin donation themes for you to choose from. Having a theme will help your guests decide what they should bring to your party as donations. The following themes are informed by the Family Pantry’s top Wish List items. Is your theme idea not listed below? We will work with you to make your idea a reality!

Wash ‘n Go

JFS Family Pantry provides food AND personal care products to each family visiting the pantry. Suggested donations include shampoo, conditioner, body wash, dish soap, hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, and laundry detergent.

Soup-er Mitzvah

Soup is a staple at the JFS Family Pantry. We try to stock a variety of our families’ favorite soups. Suggested donations include vegetable, chicken noodle, tomato, cream-based, and chunky soups.

Peanut Butter Jelly Time

Each family receives a jar of peanut butter, a jar of jelly, and a loaf of bread every time they visit the Family Pantry. Suggested donations include strawberry jelly, grape jelly, and creamy peanut butter.

Tote-ally Awesome

Reusable grocery bags come in handy for our families, especially those who use public transportation to visit the Family Pantry. Paper and plastic bags make it difficult to carry certain items (refrigerated and canned) for long periods of time. Reusable grocery bags are helpful to them and to the planet.

Chag Sameach! Happy Holiday!

Every year, Jewish Family Service delivers holiday baskets for Rosh Hashanah and Passover to Jewish clients in need. Jewish holiday greeting cards are a meaningful gesture for our aging clients. Please donate cards that have not been written on.

Schoolhouse Rock

Jewish Family Service’s Summer Food for Kids program helps grandparents in the Toledo-area who are raising their grandchildren have enough food during the summer months, when children can’t depend on free school lunches. Last year, JFS partnered with Next Jewish Generation to assemble baskets of school supplies to give to participating Summer Food for Kids families. Suggested donations include pens, pencils, crayons, markers, highlighters, colored pencils, index cards, liquid glue, glue sticks, and erasers.
